Department of Tourism Management
Malatya Turgut Ozal University Faculty of Business and Management Sciences was established in 2019, and the Department of Tourism Management within our faculty started its activities in 2019 with the approval of the Council of Higher Education on 11.12.2019. It started its education and training life by accepting its first students as of the fall semester of 2020. The Tourism Management Undergraduate Program, which started its education and training activities under the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences with the 2020-2021 Academic Year, continues its education and training activities under the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences with the decision numbered 3518 published in the official gazette dated 05.02.2021.
The aim of the department is to provide contemporary, scientific and quality education in the field of tourism management and to train qualified employees, middle and upper level management candidates for the tourism sector. For this purpose, students are equipped with knowledge and skills related to a foreign language (English, German), information technologies, the tourism sector and tourism businesses, modern business and management.
The education and training period in the Tourism Management Department is 4 years. The courses of the 4-year education and training period are included in the curriculum.
Aims and Objectives
Tourism Management is a program that aims to train managerial candidates who can work in the public and private sectors. The Tourism Management Undergraduate Program aims to train qualified students who can successfully carry out business activities, adopt continuous learning as a principle, produce rational solutions, are open to innovation and development, meet the needs of the sector, have gained international professional qualifications, and thus contribute to the country's economy and employment at a macro level.
Employment Opportunities
For graduates of the department, there are a wide variety of job opportunities in businesses such as accommodation businesses, food and beverage businesses, transportation businesses, travel agencies, museums and national parks in our country, where tourism is rapidly developing. There is also an academic career opportunity for successful and prone students. In addition, they have the right to take the inspector, administrative judge and district governor exams and therefore all the rights of graduates of the faculty of economics and administrative sciences.
Program Outcomes
Has knowledge of concepts, theories and principles related to tourism management.
Has basic knowledge of research methods specific to tourism management.
Has knowledge of legal regulations, professional standards and practices related to tourism management.
Has knowledge of important problems experienced in the field of tourism management and alternative solutions to these problems.
Uses and interprets the information, theories and models acquired about tourism management in the business environment.
Contributes to these processes by following the changes and innovations experienced in the tourism sector, interpreting them with a proactive perspective and adapting to them.
Has the ability to fulfill the planning, organization, coordination, direction and control functions related to tourism management.
Updates and develops the knowledge, skills and competencies related to tourism management with the awareness of lifelong learning.
Has the ability to communicate effectively between individuals and cultures and does group work.
Can read, write and speak at least two foreign languages at the European Language Portfolio B1 general level.
Have knowledge of using at least one sectoral program, office programs and SPSS program required by tourism management.
Acts in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values in the stages of collecting, interpreting, implementing and announcing the results of data related to tourism management.
Has sufficient awareness on universality of social rights, social justice, quality culture and protection of cultural values, environmental protection, occupational health and safety.
